Finding your next gig

Media Freelance Jobs is a place for freelancers and consultants to find contract work from the publishing industry’s leading consumer and business-to-business publishers. And it’s free to freelancers and consultants.  Think of it as social networking with a pay-off.

This service was built by the people at min (Media Industry News) to represent all of the skill-sets that power multi-platform publishing today. Not just writers, but programmers, videographers, audience development, salepeople, event planners and more. Experience is important on this Media Freelance Jobs;  it’s not for beginners.

What does the Min (Media Industry News) connection get you as a freelancer with a profile on our site? A direct feed to the min community -- publishing management making hiring decisions.

Hiring Managers will find you by searching by “Expertise,”  and/or “Specialty.” By using “Advanced Search” they can also search by years of experience. They’ll be alerted when freelancers with relevant experience add their profiles.

Subscribing employers can see your entire profile and reach you via email to begin a discussion about a job. Those who haven’t subscribed yet can search the system and see a limited version of your qualifications – your name, photo, and an abbreviated version of your “Summary and Objectives.”

Tips

To make sure that the most information about you appears in search results, make sure you get it across in the first two sentences of your “Summary and Objectives.”

One of the advantages of this site is that it presents your specific skills and that makes for better and faster matches with employers who’re looking for the experience you have. Make sure that you use the “Refine by Specialty” option to give details, and don’t forget to fill the number of years you have under your belt. (In fact, you can’t advance to the next step unless you’ve done both.)

You can upload several file types into your “Samples and  Portfolio” area – jpegs, PDFs and Word docs. We recommend that you keep these files as small as possible so that they’re easily downloaded by prospective employers. The limit on each individual upload is 8 MB. Users can post Word docs, PDFs and JPEGs only.

If you’ve got video work to show, your best option right now is to link to url where that video file is hosted.

You can create more than one profile in order to highlight different skill sets, but each must be associated with a different email address.

Help

Turning your account off
Contact us at sakhavan@accessintel.com if you’d like to delete your profile or temporarily turn it off. (We’re working on letting you control that from your own account page.) You can also call us at 800-777-5006 (from within the United States) and at 301-354-2100.

Why can’t I see other freelancers’ profiles?
Media Freelance Jobs is a subscription service. Hiring employers pay to access the profiles of a wide spectrum of publishing talent. All aspects of site are free to freelancers with the exception of viewing complete profiles. You can, of course, preview your profile from within your account.

My work samples files won’t upload. What’s the deal?
You may be exceeding the 8 MB per file. Users can post Word docs, PDFs and JPEGs only at this time.
